MICROSOFT INSPIRE + READY 2019

THE PROJECT

Microsoft Inspire + Ready brought together employees, partners, executives, and industry leaders from around the world for a week of keynotes, sessions, networking events, product experiences, and live entertainment in Las Vegas. Working as part of the event’s official photography team, our responsibility was to document that enormous range of activity and create a visual record of the people, ideas, and moments defining the experience.

MY ROLE

I worked alongside the Microsoft team to lead photography coverage across the event, directing and coordinating a team of up to 13 photographers and two editors. Months of preparation went into assigning coverage, aligning with stakeholders, anticipating high-priority moments, and building a workflow capable of moving imagery from the show floor to delivery quickly. During the event, I balanced team leadership with shooting in the field, adjusting coverage as schedules shifted and new priorities emerged.

DOCUMENTING A GLOBAL EVENT

The assignment stretched across hundreds of moments, from major presentations and executive appearances to smaller conversations, networking events, product demonstrations, and social gatherings. The challenge was not simply capturing what happened, but recognizing which moments best communicated the scale and character of the event. Working across constantly changing environments required the team to move quickly while maintaining a consistent visual standard throughout the week.

BUILT FOR THE MOMENT

Live events leave little room for a second attempt. Images needed to be captured, selected, edited, and delivered while the experience was still unfolding. By combining detailed planning with an adaptable production workflow, our team was able to support multiple stakeholders and provide a steady stream of imagery from across the conference without losing sight of the individual moments that made the event feel human.
